The best approach for impact measurement will be to balance uniformity and flexibility rather than choose one over the other. To achieve this middle ground, Common Approach uses construct-based equivalence.

Common Approach is pleased to introduce the Social Purpose Organization Council! Council members will ensure that the needs of operating charities, nonprofits and social-purpose businesses and those they serve are centered in the ongoing development of Common Approach’s impact measurement standards.
On May 29, 2023, the Government of Canada announced the Social Finance Fund. Common Approach will be working with the Social Finance Fund investment managers and social purpose organizations to support the Fund’s impact measurement approach over the first 10 years of the 16-year project.
The second network participating in the Pathfinder Pilot is the Community Lending Network, convened by Alterna Savings. The network consists of community loan fund partners who share an aligned goal of providing access to capital for underserved communities.
SI Canada hosted an informative webinar exploring how Purppl secured investment to accelerate the impact of social entrepreneurs and their journey to becoming the co-owners of Thrive Impact Fund. Both organizations use Common Approach’s Common Foundations to “do better impact measurement.”
