The Social Finance Fund (SFF) V3 Companion Module
In order to accommodate reporting requirements specific to the Government of Canada’s Social Finance Fund, Common Approach created the Social Finance Fund (SFF) V3 Companion Module. This module is an optional addition to Version 3.0 of the Common Impact Data Standard.
The Social Finance Fund (SFF) V3 Companion Module describes the data structure that social finance intermediaries (SFIs) and fund managers (wholesalers) are required to report as part of the Social Finance Fund. It will ease the reporting burden between SFIs and Wholesalers.
Who is this module for?
This optional companion module to the Common Impact Data Standard Version 3.0 is for use by software who have or are interested in gaining users with investments from the Social Finance Fund. It is intended for use by software serving the investors who are participating in the Social Finance Fund, namely social finance intermediaries (SFIs) and fund managers (wholesalers). It is not a requirement for all software. Please note that the fields your software will need to collect and export will differ depending on your user’s role(s) in the Social Finance Fund (SFIs or wholesalers).
When will the final module be released?
The Social Finance Fund (SFF) V3 Companion Module will be released alongside Version 3.0 of the Common Impact Data Standard in October 2024.

Public review of the Common Impact Data Standard
We often quip that standards are communities, not documents. To live up to this community-driven mandate, we ask the users of our standards and the broader public for feedback on existing and proposed draft updates to the standards.
Linking Impact Data
Understanding the impact of impact investments is a challenge for asset managers. An impact data ontology is a crucial part of the digital infrastructure that will be needed to improve impact measurement in the years ahead.
Choosing the right measurement software
We came into the Pathfinder Pilot understanding that social purpose organizations frequently face challenges with the software they use for impact measurement and reporting. We would like to share what we are learning about how SPOs wish to use software to support their impact measurement practices and the attributes that make software most useful to them.
