Pathfinder Pilot   Articles

That's a wrap on the Pathfinder Pilot!

In March 2026, we wrapped up the Pathfinder Pilot by gathering one final time with each of our participating networks.

It meant a lot to be able to come together to reflect on what we had learned together about how the Common Approach standards work in real-world applications with social purpose organizations (SPOs).

These learnings have shaped, and will continue to shape, the standards and help Common Approach realize our vision of making it possible for everyone to get what they need from impact measurement with less effort, while ensuring we’re centre the needs of SPOs.

We’ll be sharing these learnings in greater depth soon (watch this space!). In the meantime, we wanted to take a moment to celebrate the organizations who helped make this program such a fruitful one.

Newfoundland and Labrador Social Enterprise and Innovation Coalition

Convened by the Centre for Social Enterprise (Memorial University), this network was formed to promote the development of a well-articulated and robust social finance ecosystem in Newfoundland and Labrador. Members participating in the Pathfinder Pilot are:

In our final gathering, network members shared that the project was a rewarding learning experience. Through it, they strengthened their impact measurement systems, successfully built a dashboard, and were able to see the network’s aggregated impact. At the gathering, there was a discussion about taking ownership of the Common Framework developed for this project and utilizing it for advocacy within their communities. Furthermore, members explored the possibility of inviting other organizations to contribute their impact data to this Common Framework.

At our final gathering, it was so encouraging to hear how the Common Impact Data Standard is making it easier for you to share your impact data more clearly and effectively with a variety of audiences! We were energized by the potential you see in our standards and took away crucial learnings to continue evolving and improving them. We’re thrilled to see how the Common Framework will amplify your shared impact and create new opportunities for your network.

The Network for Optimizing Food Impact

Co-convened by 10C Shared Space, this network comprises SPOs that bring more food to communities in need and strengthen local food systems through community-driven innovation. Members participating in the Pathfinder Pilot are:

We were excited to see the network’s shared common framework come to life—capturing their collective impact in increasing food access for communities in need and strengthening local food systems. It was especially inspiring to hear that members are eager to build on this work, using the framework to demonstrate collective impact in other areas.

In fact, we had such a great time, we couldn’t stand still for a group photo! 😄
